Ok, I'm a total noob at this, but am trying very hard to learn. I've been reading for the last few hours at least, trying to understand how everything works.
Can someone answer a few questions I have? I also have a W580i, with Rogers, and am located in Canada.
The first step I want to do is unlock the phone.
Now if I understand correctly, you can use the XS program, the the SEToolite program?

And how do you determine which files you need to flash onto your phone? If I am reading this right, I only need a version of firmware to debrand the phone? And where can you find the correct firmware? I know there is a bunch located on the download section of this site, but having this junk on my phone for 2 months while waiting to be accepted to the download section is out of the question... I'm a little impatient that way.
Are the USB drivers for the phone already installed on the computer? I know when I connected my phone to my computer for the first time, it installed a ton of drivers...
Thanks for any help, I'm sick of all this Rogers crap on my phone and want it gone... The next step would be to unlock the phone, but I want to debrand first.
What are some of the gains of unlocking the phone? Is internet connection one of them? It'd be sweet to surf the net for free via the phone.

My phone gets the same configuration error when I boot it up as BCSbully...

OK SWEET! Got it to work.
But now I was wondering, is there any way to take off that crappy ROGERS name tag on the main screen? (the one with calls, menu).

I am new here. I have a sony w580i and wanting to use it with my t mobile, I went searching for unlock codes, which I got done, and now I wanted to get rid of the AT&T soI found I had to de brand it. Scary but after finding all the files that I needed, which took forever, and reading in full the tutorial, though it no longer has the screenshots are gone, so when they say refer to the shots I cant, I did everything step by step but my phone is not working, I read through the posts and saw that that I had to get a custom pack from another site, which I am not able to find. Can someone help me with getting my p hone to work again..

i just tried to debrand my phone a lil while ago and sumthin bad happnd.
i did just as the tutorial said to do. and after i plug my phone in, it does its thing and works for about a minute and it says "will flash 221 blocks" and it gets to about no more than 60 blocks each time and then freezes on one and says "leftover write fail. fatal" then "ldr blk write fail. fatal" a bunch of times and just stops. idk about u but that looks rele bad. my phone is now brikd i think, i just payed a lot of money for it, and im kinda freakn out cause i dont think thers a waranty anymore so if anyone could help me that wud b amazing. thx.

I am brand new to debranding and all this. I live in Canada and I am with Rogers. I know that I want to debrand it but I am really nervous I am going to screw up. I dont understand what xs++ is or any of the other terms. Can someone please lead me in the right direction and tell me exactly what I need to do? I have seen some of the tuts but then I see these codes with them and it confuses me even more!! lol
I see some of these posts are from the end of last year, I hope some people can still help me!

Note: when it says drag the file over the application icon, it's exactly as stated. literally have 2 windows explorer sessions open. 1) with the file 2) the other w/ the applcation. then drag the file from 1 to 2, like you would copy a file, but drop it over the 'qamaker.exe' icon. it produces a vpk file, used to unlock.
I hope you weren't an eager person and did the SE service update. Cuz if you updated to CID 53 then you can forget everything i said above. your screwed, at least for now.
