I downloaded the es.t9 and xl.lng. I copy them to the language folder and now...
I tried to edit the Customize.xml on the far and it doesnt work. I know the file has data on it. I can see the size. When I copy the file from the phone to the PC comes empty. Any idea how to finish the operation?
I have a w610i unlock and unbranded.

well first off, you can't just upload any traditional chinese files. You will need to download a FS for your specific phone and extract the .lng and .t9 files for traditional chinese out of them using main2raw and SEFStool4. I am going to assume that if you have a difficult time copying files from your phone to your pc your cid is to high. I need to update the tutorial one of these days to account for higher cids, but the easyest thing you can do is just create a customize_upgrade.xml file and put in it what you were going to add to the customize.xml file and upload the file to the same directory as customize.xml. then when you restart your phone, what was added into customize_upgrade.xml will be added automatically to your customize.xml

If you don't have Chinese firmware in your phone, you need to get Chinese fonts to work with Chinese language.
You can get the font from the Chinese firmware.
i added AR into my phone ..... it does not reflect on the phone language only on the writing language....
what could be the problem... the AR file come from an r6 fs while my phone has an r8
I tried to add the italian language to my K810i EUROPE_2 with the R8BA024 firmware but I was unable to use the FAR manager plug-in; then I used XS++ to just add the it.* files to the phone without modifing the the allowed_language.txt and customize.xml files.
The first time I tried, I didn't delete the lng.lst and lng.dat files and used upper-case for the file names and the phone showed the Italian as phone language but not as wirting language.
The second time, after using lower-case file name and deleting lng.lst and lng.dat the phone showed the italian language ONLY as writing language (that's good for me).

Hello. this depends on language too. If you're adding some non english related language. you'll need the FONT for that language too. For example, chinese, you'll need the font inside the folder tpa/preset/system/fonts too or it won't work.
That means if I want to add Thai language, I have to extract the language files from Thai firmware and put them in the new firmware?

yes it's right. for using other languages you need flash FS and FW with requirement CDA and region before. sorry for my english :)

@redswap if i recall correctly, there was a thread somewhere on this forum that described how you could obtain these files with phones with cid 52 and such when far wasn't able to copy files. I wasn't able to find the thread but i no it exists. maybe someone else can find it. But i know the process involved copying a file that you make somewhere onto the phone with far, you would then restart the phone, and the file you originally uploaded would send instructions to your phone to copy the specific file you want (i.e. for you the customize.xml) to where ever you want it on your phone (i.e. the memory card) from there you can copy this file to your computer, modify it, and upload the file with far to where it needs to go on the phone to allow you to customize the phone.

For those of you that are having a problem accessing the allowed_language.txt and customize.xml on your phones, i have found this tutorial on how to copy the files to your computer. Its only a few extra steps. Just follow that tutorial on how to copy the two files to your computer rather than just with far. Other than that, you would basically follow the directions posted on the first post.
I do think I need to mention at this point to that if your using this method, i can only assume that your phone is newer than mine. I am aware that newer phones now use FONT files rather than having them directly coded into the firmware. If you are having issues still seeing characters (specifically chinese possibly others as I am not fully knowledgeable with fonts and newer phones) you may need to copy the FONT files over as well, just as you would the .t9 and .lng files. They should also be able to be extracted from a FS like .lng and .t9 files, and will need to be placed into as well as need to be placed in the tpa\preset\system\fonts folder.
You may need to modify the FONTS.xml as well, but exactly how, i am not sure. Best advice i can give on this is if an unmodified FONTS.xml works with all your languages, don't mess with it. If it doesn't work with the new languages, make a backup of your original, then I'd try copying the one from FS you extracted the FONTS from. It should work with the new languages, I don't know if it will work with the old though. You may have to modify it yourself from looking at both the FONTS.xml and possibly others from other extracted FS to understand how it works as I don't. If anyone gets this to work either by following these directions or modifying them some how post so others know how to. And eventually when i finnish writing my capstone I will hopefully have time to completely rewrite the original tutorial to encompass everything and possibly add pictures to make some things clearer.
