The phone's hardware does not differ as far as i know. There are some little differences between "i" and "c" models for example. "i" are for Europe, America and Africa (not 100% sure) "c" stands for china. They've got different basebands.
XS++ supports flashing some parts of smartphone firmwares but it's not complete yet. Maybe it'll be supported in the upcoming release but it has not been confirmed yet. There haven't been any news about a new release in the last time, the developers seem to be quite busy.
