Im doing this step

1. Remove battery
2. Insert battery
3. Press n hold "C" (phone still off)
4. Connect phone with cable (phone will auto on and continue blinking)

u are doing it right but the phone carnt come on at all :-(

Whats a com cable? Having same problem, but the phone doesnt switch on at all.

Guys, my bro's phone does the exact same thing mentioned. I still havnt figured a way around it. Bt i shall let you guys know as soon as i do. Bt so far i think the only way around this is using a box like phil said.

...hope someone comes with a solution though. Not keen on saying some corner store a ridiculous price...

try using, instead of "C" pressed and plug in the usb cable, "2+5" both pressed and plug in the usb cable.

that method is general knowledge to most users now, i think. but doesnt work either, had tried it ages ago.
