USB Flash Driver Installation - Guide

Okay guys, I've seen a lot of people with USB Flash Driver Questions/Problems, and I hope this guide will solve some of the questions like;

"What is USB Flash drivers?"

"How do I install USB Flash drivers?"

NOTE: Before we begin, please download the drivers from HERE!!!

I. - What is 'USB Flash Drivers'?

Alright, let me get this straight, 'USB Flash Drivers' is like all other drivers for a PC.
We all know the proccess, each time you connect a device to your computer, Windows says 'New Hardware Detected', and it will most likely install them itself, (for devices like USB mouse), or it will ask if you have a CD, or if you know which driver to install (GPUs, sound cards and other 'unkown' devices).
'USB Flash Driver', is a file, which holds information about the device, (In this situation, it's a phone in 'FLASH' mode) and which gives infromation to Windows how to handle the new device.
That's why we need them!
Let me give you an example, you've just bought a new GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), set it in your computer, and turned it on..., By that time, the computer doesn't know what it is, well it probably knows it's a GPU (or maybe not), but it doesn't know how much memory it has, who have produced it, the kind of displays it supports and so on...
But then, you'll find (most often on the Internet) special drivers for your device, which will tell windows about these things, and then it will work =]
That's why if you don't have the right drivers for your hardware, you might experience problems.
Well, the 'USB Flash Drivers', hold information about a Sony Ericsson phone, which have entered 'Flash Mode' (the mode where it's software can be modified, but SE's idea was to use it to 'upgrade' the firmware on these phones), and it tells windows how to handle the device =]

VISTA x64 ( written by swindlerz )

1. download newest SEUS for vista from sony eric.
2. install it.
3. go to c:\programs(x86)\sony ericsson\update service\setup\drivers\
4. open USBFlashDriver.zip and extract the AMDx64 folder
5. connect your phone with the "C" procedure
6. choose to install the driver by yourself
7. go to the AMDx64 folder and choose "ggsemc.sys"
8. Finish


II. - Installing 'USB Flash Drivers' on XP ( written by senter )

1.Turn off phone.
2. Start XS++ and click Connect.
3. Download -> SEMP_USB_Driver and click Extract Here on Desktop.
Hold "C" on phone and connect with USB cable.

4. When see Found New Hardware Wizard click:

Nice Guide For Beginners.

This am sought!! Shall I XP and at installation USB flash drivers me driver didn't want install... Always me it wrote, "at installation new hardware come to difficulties". So t it simply only make copy to the components drivers and perhaps it he'll ride :rolleyes:

Or install SEUS ( Sony Ericsson Update Service ).

Yes You Can But For That You Need To Download The 35mb Package Plus Then Adobe(If One Doesnt Have It) Then You Get USB Flash Driver.:rolleyes: In This Tutorial You Only Need A 5kb Driver. I Believe One Should Definately Prefer 5kb Rather Than 35mb.:D

Yes the flash driver is different from the drivers of Sony Ericsson PC Suite CD....if u need the flash driver u just download it from jasmin or u can use SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update System).....!!!

You made one little mistake, it's Sony Ericsson Update Service not Sony Ericsson Update System. :D:D:D

Great, thanks for sharing the driver, it was not easy to find, why does SE make it so complicated? They do not have it on the SE web site or the CD that came with my k790! Good job.

What is "XS++"? Where do i find/start it?

Can I install this driver on Windows 2000?

I think it will work, but why not try it ;) ?

If we install Sony Ericsson PC Suite 2.10.46 there is no need to install usb driver ?

i have installed SEUS, and updated my w810i, as guided in it. now how do i make it work for modding? and how do i use it as usb flash drive?

The SEMC usb flash driver is required for XS++ & other modding programs. And SEMC was included when you installed SEUS. SEUS is for updating mobile firmware only and you have to use program like xs++ program for modding, which you could around here.

hi i'm new to all this

i followed all the steps but the only thing is that after i downloaded go into XS++, pressed connect, turned off my phone, hold 'C,' then plug in the USB, no 'hardware update wizard' pops up...

please help :(
