red lights
ok i was out skating and my friend wanted me to lend him my w580i so i did. when i came over to pick it up he said that it fell in the sink while he was washing dishes without him knowing. i tried turning it on and red lights appear but the phone wont turn on. Is there a way i can get it fix?

Re: red lights
red light ussually means damaged EROM, but I really think there might be more things damaged because of the water, probably there is also hardware damage. the best thing to do is tell your friend to get it fixed for you or buy you another, he broke it, or take it to a service center, I can't think for anything that you can do to fix it.

Re: red lights
I'm not sure if water damaged Sony Ericsson phones can be fixed the way I use to fix Motorola and other Nokia phones. I would find the dis-assembly guide first and piece the phone up until it's completely in pieces.
Take the mobo of the phone and rinse it around in rubbing alcohol at least 190 proof and then let it dry off (it will take about 24~48 hours to fully dry) and then piece the phone back together and I've gotten the phone to work after water damage because the rubbing alcohol will knock away the minerals from regular water.
However falling into the sink while doing dishes is another story and I'm not sure if this method will work because I haven't had phones dropped into soapy water.

Re: red lights
in this case the redlight means the battery is dead but whatever you do don't try charging it, try leaving the phone to dry for a few days without the battery insurted and try and get a new battery there cheap to buy off ebay.

Re: red lights
Yeah but he said that his friend dropped it into the sink unknowingly so we don't really know how many seconds (possibly) minutes that the phone was marinating in the soapy water. If he can't get a replacement from the carrier or something he could probably try the rubbing alcohol trick to rinse of the pcb board so it's free of minerals from water and other agents (I guess he can do that since the phone would be considered bricked anyways). Just my 2 cents on this situation.

Re: red lights
when red light start to flash, you could try to use the SEtools to repair.. but then u said it has been dropped into water... therefore i doubt the my solution will work on yours...

Re: red lights
Sorry but you are out of luck. since it dropped into water you damaged your phone and rendered it unusable. There is no way for you to fix this. You need to replace the phone. Warranty usually does not cover water damage unless you had phone insurance.
