How To Port Patches From W580i R6 Generic to R6 Hong Kong?

Hi everyone. I have a few patches that I want to use on my W580i. I got the patches from SE-NSE and tired uploading them onto my phone. Turns out I need to be using the W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52 and not W580_R6BC002_MAIN_HONG_KONG_LA_RED52 in order for my patches to work.

The problem however is that I need the Chinese characters on my phone so I won't be seeing squares and random characters in Walkman mode.

I found a few how-to port guides, but I still don't understand how porting works. I found this tutorial by dephea and SE-NSE tutorial.

I might post the patches that I want ported, depending on if I can successfully get the ports to work first.

You know many patches can instead be applied via simple customize_upgrade.xml or manipulating system files using XS++ or FAR manager

How would I do that? Aren't patching easier and I guess less dangerous?
