Customize.xml
I was able to use FAR with the plugin to access and download the entire filesystem directory. although this doesn't do me much good as pretty much every file with a .xml extension is empty 0kb.
Directly I'm looking to edit the code within the customize.xml file found with in the FS/tpa/preset/custom directory. The reason for my desire to edit this file is because it houses the enabling of flash menus, camera flash sounds ect....
Although I was able to make a complete copy of FS+subdir and folders. they are rendered useless as they dont have any info in them. The only way I was able to get a customize.xml file which has code in it was to download a custpack.

I was wondering if I use the customize.xml file from the Laura cda edit it/save it and then replace my current customize.xml if it will work properly with my current setup?

I have read the tut and found that I do not have the USB dir in my FS. Without there being a usb dir in my FS this isnt gonna work properly?
How do I create the USB dir in the FS?
secondly after doing the .xml gen and the phone copys the files to the USB/other dir will I be able to copy the file to my cpu and have actual info in the customize.xml file for editing and re-uploading?

I dont think the process will work without this directory. so I havent tried it yet.
The phone will make a copy of the customize.xml and place it in the folder which I don't have at the current moment.
Will I be able to copy the file from the USB/other dir to my CPU for editing and actually have information in the file? for editing and uploading back to the phone?
After I edit the customize.xml file can I just replace the one thats in the custom dir with my edited one?

it doesn't matter that there isn't a usb/other in your phones FS, no wrong the phone will place the file in the other folder in your phone, so when you turn the phone on the file will be there in the other folder, just plug the phone into the computer select usb transfer mode go to the other folder then copy the file to your pc then you can edit it.

OK.
I did the file customize_upgrade.xml copy to tpa/preset/custom. turned the phone back on and reconnected to FAR. The USB/other dir/folder was created and the customize.xml file was located within.
I used FAR to copy THAT customize.xml file from the USB/other folder to my computer for editing but it was a 0kb file again.
why is this?

Figured out the problem. its supposed to be
tpa/user/other
not
usb/other
works for w580i. copies to phone that way.
