w580i help

Hello everybody, just registered and I would like to say what a great forum you guys have here. There's no help section so I thought I would post here. Anyways, I just bought this phone and I have ABSOLUTELY no clue about phones. Can someone post some tutorials on how to find info of your phone and help me get started by leading me to tutorials to getting a unlocked and debranded phone? Only reason I need this is well.. I don't know which is for which phone. Thanks alot in advance.

EDIT: Ok, I done some more research and I got the files:
MAIN: W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52
FS: W580_R8BA024_FS_AMERICA_2_RED52
CustPack: HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_16_R8A_GENERIC_AMERICA_2
I plan on using XS++ to backup my GDFS, then flash this.
Will this work with a Canadian w580i from Rogers?
If this will unbrand it, will it also unlock it as well?

u can't back-up ur old firmware, and debranding removes all the limits and branding crap Rogers has done to ur phone it doesn't unlock it

you will find all the FW you need in the download section, but i guess there are some restrictions...

I just unbranded my W580i but is it my phone or is it that when you switch to the theme Strobe and go into the main menu, moving around icons will vibrate the phone? Also the main menu for the theme Strobe is different from the branded Rogers one. Is this for everyone or me?

I have the AMERICA_2 one and it's happening to me. Like when you turn on your phone you can feel a vibrating motion at the bottom near the keypad. Well everytime I switch from say.. Walkman to Entertainment or Messages to Contacts, it does it or when I open the main menu it vibrates too.

debranding is not the same as unlocking. two different things and the only way to unlock is to pay, but its pretty cheap. i hear though if u have at&t, u can ask and they will do it for you..not sure though, just a rumor
