Have you thought about editing the file?
Hi there you guys, have you thought about editing the file in any sound editing program like SoundForge (the best PC program, the best overall being the Mac-only program ProTools - and as expensive as it gets -).
I know for a fact that there are a few sound-editing programs around there that allow you to only edit a 1min song - just what you need for a ringtone!! - , and some others that are entirely free but haven´t got features as great as the payed ones.
Anyway, try to open these mp3s on these programs and re-converting them, in many cases it´s possible.
Step-by-step: 1st - edit the file, reconverting it as a new mp3 file (and also a smaller one, unless you´re bad enough to only answer the phone when the music ends... ;) ); 2nd - use SE DRM Packager on the new mp3 you created; 3rd - tranfer it to your device; 4th - voilà!
How to use the SE DRM Packager - link found at lasyk.net
This is a complete howto found at MyForum.Lasyk.net (http://myforum.lasyk.net/archive/ind.../t-11059.html). If I am breaking any forum rules, delete this post and warn me as I´ll never do this again. But if I´m not, I´m only quoting it here because I found it very useful and capable of answering this entire thread questions. :)

Now you can send this file to your device , you will be able to set this mp3 as a ringtone
Important note : The mp3 is saved using the dm extension. You must send SONG.dm and not SONG.mp3 !!!!!!! (my personal exclamations)
