New Handset from Orange - W850i

Hi

I got my new handset from orange uk today, a SE W850i which was to replace an old W850i that had software problems. Anyways, I hate the Orange software and would like to know if I can debrand this for free and if so how ?

I pluged it into XS++ and this is the output I got..

I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction and confirm what files etc I need and if there's any other benefits to actually doing this rather then just getting rid of Orange's crap.

Also, can the W850i's be unlocked free yet ?

Well I have just debranded my Orange K810i and it is much better. Not only has all the Orange software and icons gone, it is quicker and more stable! I used SEtool2 Lite and got my MAIN, FS and CDA files from here (had to pay for them, as I didnt want to wait but it was about £1.50).

Where are you based James? I am assuming UK. If it was me I would download SEUS from SE direct and make sure it is all up to date. Then I reckon theses are the files you need:

W850_R1KG001_MAIN_GENERIC_CY_RED52
W850_R1KG001_FS_EUROPE_2_RED52
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_11_R5A_GENERIC_EUROPE_2

Do you have experience in updating?

i debranded my old w850i using wootan (i think) but thought i'd try it this way now lol

I must admit I tried Wotan first, but couldnt get it to connect and am still waiting for their Tech Support! Would be interested to know how you get on...

why to pay for client flashers, when xs++ or setool is free.
The firmware you can also download from 4shared.com - free file sharing and storage, there are manfy firmwares but sometimes no wanted languges in FS's so you have to know which files you need and with which languages.(e.g. EU1,EU2,ASIA,EMEA....)

use setool lite very simple
