W800 shutter spring?

Hi everyone, I'd just like to know whether there is a spring for the shutter on the back plate of the w800. I got a back plate to one and I wanted to put it on my w810 but the shutter doesn't seem to want to close most of the time. It seems it would make sense for there to be a spring, but my backplate didn't come with one.

Well if there's no visable damage that you can see just by looking at the inside of the case ie: the plastic switch mechanisim, then try unscrewing the little tiny screw that holds the silver mirrored part on to the case, unclip that from the case and have a peek inside there to see if there's anything jamming the mechanisim, it can be fiddlly to get back together though, and there is a spring of sorts (not sure if its a spring or used to ground something).

thanks but the problem is that i bought a w800 housing and it seems to be missing a spring, if there is one. So I can't really just take it apart to look inside. It would be nice if someone had some pics of a w800 backplate, on the inside. I think I just bought a bad housing :(

The midplate of the w800i (orange centre piece), dont have any springs on it, its just one whole piece of plastic :), i think i may need to remove my back plate again as you may have noticed a thread about my camera problems in this section of the forum, so ill take some pix of the back plate for you, when its complete and when iv took the shutter mechanisin apart (as explained above) ;)
but umfortuanatly i wont be near a computer for about 2 or 3 days :( but if nobody gets you some pix of it upload some for you next time im on the computer :)

thanks looks like i am indeed missing the springy thing... i need a new backplate then.

The spring you are refering to is the metal V shape piece that holds the plastic lens cover in place. Normally you can only find that piece in OEM housings. However, some aftermarket housings are done quite well that it does not require that metal piece to keep the lens cover in its closed position.

Thanks Ben that clarifies a lot. Sadly my aftermarket housing is done.. not so well so the lens cover does not stay in the closed position :(
