W810i LCD repair problems

Hey folks, first post so I'll try to do it right. After loads of searching and guide reading, I decided it was a good idea to fix up my old phone. It died in a freak Wii-mote accident resulting in a cracked front glass and LCD. Upgraded to a Samsung Impression when contract came due but the touch screen has failed twice with no drops/injuries. I'm "downgrading" because I liked the reception, camera, and walkman much better on my old w810i.

While waiting for my LCD screen, I went ahead and reinstalled the firmware with XS++. I'm an R4EA031 49_Red with Cingular branding. The only thing I changed in the process was the acoustics to XSound_CyberBass_4.1 to fix the low ear volume.

[The problem] Now that my LCD came in, the disassembly went well except for a sticker on the LCD itself that I had to carefully peel off. The phone turns on but the picture is mostly whited out, more so at the bottom. It's so bad on boot that all you can see is an orange ring in the SE loading screen. I'm not sure if it's a bad replacement lcd or the fingernail sticker scraping may have broken something. Anyone seen this before?

[The other problem] When I boot to Phone Mode, I get the "Configuration Error: Contact your service provider or service center". In XS++, I only flashed the .FBN firmware and replaced the acoustics files. Is there anything else I need to flash (tpa folder, gdfs, etc)? Another post said you need "main, fs and custpack" but I'm not sure where everything is located yet.

about your first query, that would be a bad replacement. for the configuration error, you need to flash the cust_pack, search in the download section. i advice you to flash MAIN, FS and custpack.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, I just got the chance to fire it up and try again. I've obviously made XS++ rather unhappy as it's failed twice while trying to flash the file system.

The part that's still a bit confusing is what files to use where. **Edit** I found some files with MAIN in the name but don't have a screencap of it yet.
1) Main: W810_R4EA031_MAIN_CINGULAR_HN_RED49.mbn
2) File System: W810_R4EA031_FS_CINGULAR_RED49.fbn
3) CustPack: the America 2 pack in XS++
-I downloaded the "tpa" folder but don't see any place to use my own custpacks. It only lists the ones it has in the dropdown box.

I hate to require so much hand holding since I build PC's for fun but this is my first journey into the world of phone firmware.

Update: using a different usb port and a fresh download of XS++, it finished the flash just fine~ Changed out the acoustics for Cyberbass 4.1 while I was there. The phone officially works now. Tested it out with a few calls and texts. The screen is still so washed out I can't read the button prompts on the bottom and the earpiece volume is just as low as I remember it. Either way, progress!

Anybody have recommendations on better LCD suppliers? I picked an ebay one from New York (tried to avoid Hong Kong shipping) but it had a sticker ON the lcd itself that took some force to remove. That may have damaged it but anything ebay is questionable.

Last question for today: any other recommendations on acoustics packs? I overwrote the stock ones in the [edit]IFS folder but it didn't change a thing. Looking into the TaShaRa ones now.

For lcd spare part,I use to buy them online via ipmart but the shipment definetly from Hong Kong
