W850i white screen of death, flash not helping. please help

Good day, I'm trying to fix my old W850i that just gives me the white flashing screen when i plug it in to charge and when i switch it on.
I tried downloading firmware etc from here and then flashing it, but that did not help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

change main board to front board connector flex and post result, software wouldn't help with this kind of problem

Replaced the flex but it's still doing the same, and the old flex still looks fine, just a bit dirty.

Sometimes white screen can be caused top keypad or the other is the faulty lcd.


Sorry I missed out membrane it normally can be caused by the top keypad membrane.

I now replaced the top keypad membrane, and its still doing the same.
If I remember correctly, just before it began doing this, the screen used to go funny shades of green and sometimes distort a bit.

If you haven't got it water damaged at all it very much sounds as your screen gone. I'd look on ebay and see if you can buy a faulty phone with the description of some of the keys not working or one where that you can see it has a picture. You can buy new screens on there but watch out for the really cheap one from HK they work but the picture is terrible in the colour.

i think Loz is right, the last resort "Change LCD" would revive you phone back coz if changing the flex, top keypad membrane doesn't solve it, then it would probably be the Screen (LCD)

Im a little confused, is it water damage or not? Did it just happen out of the blue?
My vote is more on the top keypad membrane, to be honest.
I personally had the same problem and with tones of friend who had the same problem. Its seems that SE designed the membrane badly. When replacing the membrane, be very very VERY gently and careful, it seems to break very easily.

When you turn the phone on, by the power button, does it flash a red light?

What I mean is if it had been water damaged at all no amount of flashing and changing components would resolve White screen of death, but if it hasn't been water damaged and he tried changing the ribbon and the membrane and he still has flashing screen its the LCD. I have such an Lcd every time I put into W850i it flashes, take it out and put in a good one phone works fine. Kept the dud one hoping drying it on the radiator would make it work.
