C905a Startup modifications

Hello,
So I'm making modifications to my debranded C905a. Unfortunately the forum that had the information I was using is currently down. :(

I've made a new STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC.gif and STARTUP_SOUND_SEMC.wav. With the original files the STARTUP_SOUND_SEMC is actually a MID file. Other people on this forum have no problem using .wav files for start up sounds. I cannot get my phone to play the start up sound. I even tried it as an mp3. Have any C905/C905a owners changed their start up sound?

My second issue is that when I leave out the file "splash" and only have STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC.gif, the screen is blank until it hits my animated GIF file. So I figured.. fine! I stripped the first frame out of my animated GIF and made it the splash file. Still nothing. Black screen until it loads the STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC.gif.

I've read a lot about modifications and it shouldn't be that difficult. It's not like I'm doing a patch. Any thoughts, advice, information or solutions would be helpful.

for start up sound, convert it to mp3 and try again, and for the splash screen, it should be exactly 320x240 pixel and should end with nothing (splash only) not with splash.gif or sumthing.
If still confused, let us know

Are there any bit rate restrictions for the mp3? Normally the ring tones I make are 56Kbps. Yes, I realized splash should have no extention.
