help!!! W900i became K700!

Hi guys, I'm a newbie to topsony and would very much appreciate all your feedback and help.

Something happened to my SE W900i last week while I was downloading themes from a website. When I was done, I clicked on eject hardware to safely end the session, as I always have, and then removed the phone from the USB port. Then I applied the theme I downloaded (Spiderman 3) from www.mobile9.com and then the phone just flashed, went dead, flashed again, then turned on again. What happened was all my contacts, messages, files, everything saved on the phone memory was all deleted, including all software which was there on the phone when I purchased it! It was as if I did a Master Reset! I checked the firmware version, it said CXC1250057 R5AF001, but with other funny characters which was not there before. And one more thing, when I checked the phone status, the phone model said it was K700:eek: ! What happened to my phone??? And now everytime I try to connect to me PC, the computer does not recognize the phone anymore, unlike before when there was no problem. I cannot use SE File Manager, Communication Center and everything as the phone cannot be recognized:mad: .

Please, is there anyone who can explain what happened and what I can do to have my W900i back from the current K700? Thanks in advance guys.

:eek: as stuned as you. i don't know how to recover your lost data, i'm not sure thats even possible but you can flash your phone using xs++ or xc (search the how to section on this site and www.se-nse.net). they have excellent resources.

but wait for a more educated reply about what actually happened to your phone before you do anything.

mrshotgun, thanks for the reply. i'm not after the retrieval of my data, i have all of it backed up in my pc and memory stick. what i want is the phone to go back to w900 from its current status as k700. it's really weird why my phone, which is a w900i, identifies itself as k700, as i saw it when i checked the phone status.

i hope i can have more feedbacks regarding my problem.

i flashed it with xs++ but now the phone doesn't work. everytime i turn it on, it says configuration settings error. now i cant use the phone. please help on what to do guys.

what happens next, the phone disconnects from XS++ and then reconnects as a USB flash drive. XS++ does not continue anymore, it stops there. when i turn on the phone, it displays "Configuration error. Please contact your network operator...." what can i do to resolve this problem? i'm already thinking of bringing it to SE Service Center if nothing works here. thanks in advance guys.

i have had the exact same problem. it is a problem with the loader or something. the only solution (the only free one that is) is to use phoneXC -> to finalize ur phone. u can flash using either xs++ or xc.

if ur willing to shell out a little cash then u can buy wotan or dvt credit and flash ur system. it will fix ur phone (i fixed mine using wotan).

It's very strange because considering that the HW is different it should not be possible to drive the K700 firmware on a W900i
I suppose might be more probably a sort of virus or something similar.
