Simplified Chinese writer on W850i
I have my phone set up as shown below:
ChipID:9900,EMP protocol:0301
PHONE IS RED RETAIL PRODUCT
FLASH CID detected:52
Speed:921600
Flash ID check:2019
Flash props sent ok
OTP LOCKED:1 CID:51 PAF:1 IMEI:35536301438141 CERT:RED
FLASH CID:52 COLOR:RED
Model:W850i
Brand:Sony Ericsson
MAPP CXC article: R1KG001 prgCXC1250200_GENERIC_CY
MAPP CXC version: R1KG001
Language Package:APAC
CDA article: CDA102568/101
CDA version: R5A
Default article: cxc1250489
Default version: R1KG001
It supports simplified Chinese but there's no simplified Chinese input language which really is quite annoying since I can't write text messages to anyone, look up words or browse the web in Chinese!!!
Any ideas? I could flash it with either Hong Kong or Taiwanese files but they only support traditional input, there's no simplified Chinese customised file for my phone. Any software IME's out there or should I try looking on the Chinese internet?
Re: Simplified Chinese writer on W850i
I flashed it with the latest HK firmware and as I thought, doesn't have Simplified Chinese, only traditional. There are NO customisation packages that offer simplified Chinese writing support for the w850i on this site but there must be someone using a w850i and typing in simplified Chinese right?
Re: Simplified Chinese writer on W850i
The input methods are part of the main firmware - so if you want simplified chinese, try:
W850_R1KG001_MAIN_CHINA_CY_RED52 <- Main firmware
W850_R1KG001_FS_APAC_RED52 <- File system
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_101_R5A_GENERIC_APAC <- Cust pack
I don't have a W850 to check with, but if it's like any other DB2020 firmware, that should give you simplified Chinese both for input and menus.
You could also try the W850_R1KG001_FS_CMCC_RED52 filesystem - that will certainly have the files for Chinese support in it - but it will probably also have those ugly China Mobile menu icons and "let's make every button on the phone take you the Monternet wap portal" feature.
Re: Simplified Chinese writer on W850i
Thanks, I'll try that combination and let you know!
Re: Simplified Chinese writer on W850i
To confirm, if you wish to type in Simplified Chinese, the above package works like a charm and there's no need for the China Mobile file system. The generic one works just as well.
Re: Simplified Chinese writer on W850i
I got those files, so what should I do next? How to flash the phone with new firm ware?
thanx
