CID53 W850i phone lock code forgotten

hi
this is a Hong Kong version CID53 W850i
XS++ v3.1 cannot reset the code
i saw this thread similar z610i phone lock code - Top Sony Forums
so i would like to ask if flashing the firmware is the only way to reset the code?
i would take this as the last resort cause i dont want to lose all the things inside the phone
the above link includes a tutorial that looks extremely complicated to me
all i know is i can download a software from SE to online update the firmware when the software is installed
can this simple method also reset the code?

a side question to ask:
what is the difference btw a patch and flashing firmware

reflash a phone wont remove the user code and if u wanted to do it u would have to pay for it with on line flashing web sites like davinci with cid 53 phones

I recomend to flash it using Farmanager plugin JD flasher

w830, what do u mean? Do u mean flashing the firmware using JD flasher plugin on a CID53 phone will reset the phone lock code? Any tutorial that you can point me to?

no it wont reset the user code

oh my god that means there is no free solution that i can diy?

i hear a linux new version of XS++ will handle CID53, is that correct?
