R1GB001 is newer than the other one. New means better but sometime a firmware upgrade might not have noticeable differences from a previous version. Maybe a little longer standby time, fewer bugs, etc
Be sure that you flash the same cid version as your phone has, if you intend to do so.
EE, GB means year and month of firmware.
First letter
A - 2001
...
E - 2005
F - 2006
G - 2007
And second letter - month
B - february
E - may
This is your invention? I have AT on k300 and AY on k700. What month would T and Y be? And those phones were launched in 2004. Firmware was made in 2001? I don't think so. So your theory fails.

i have the rR2AE033 on my k700, i heard tha R2C is the most recent firmware, since few people have k700, can you give me more information, thanks
