hi my w850i is locked to the "3" network in the uk i want to how 2 unlock it to any network

idealy for free and i dont have access to the downloads on topsony.

Use simLockGenerator to create unlock patch from the phone main firmware then use setool lite to apply the patch along with the main. Alot of firmware for your phone can be found online if you search for them.

you can not patch for free cid49 so you can't unlock
u need to upgrade cid to 52, flash cid52 software in phone and then proced to unlock
or u can wait, maybe cid49 patching will be free soon (laser said he will kill semc market up to A2 soon, so maybe this is what he ment)

ok thanks but could you tell me how to upgrade to CID52 and what firmware should i use does it have to match with the R1ED001 or will any one do.

Connect the phone to XS++ v3.1 and when it ask you if you want to upgrade the CID to 52, press the Yes button. About firmware version: any firmware will be fine if it's equal with or greater than R1ED001 and the branding is the same, and of course it's need to be CID52(e.g. if you have a Vodafone branded phone use a Vodafone branded firmware).
