Seriously confused K800i Upgrade

This is a copy of my message posted (wrongly) in a different secion - sorry.

I really don't understand all of this. My K800 had apperently very old firmware. SEUS and the on-phone update service has never updated so I went about flashing the phone with Phone-XS. Using more luck than skill, I successfully upgraded from R1ED001 to R1GB001, both on Red49. I lost all my settings, phonebook etc, but hey, VERY new to this. The new update has also not included the Update Service on the phone - it's just not there!!
So have I got the latest firmware now? There are a huge number of files available apparently for the K800i but many don't even start with R1.....
Also, is it possible to add a better media player to the K800?

Any help - in really plain simple terms - will be greatly appreciated.

If I recall correctly, I need 2 files for upgrading. Will that be the K800_R8BF003_MAIN_GENERIC_WI_RED52 and K800_R8BF003_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52 - I live in the UK

The flashing guide link you provided also mentioned about upgrading from CID49 to 52. I presume I need to do this to allow the files to update the phone.

The guide then says you have to Costomize your phone. How do I decide what CDA to use? There are loads to choose from.

For CID upgrade, you can use Xs++ 3.1, also for flashing those two files; When you uconnect the phone to XS++, it will ask if you want to upgrade the CID, you clcick YES and it will do the trick, after that you can proceed to flash the phone.


About customization, you should select saame as the FS file you are going to flash, for example CENT_EUROPE.

ANd I would also want to know if there is a bbetter media player for the K800, is the k810 player different than the k800 plaayer ?

You can use kd player and no, k810 player is not different from k800 player.

EUROPE_2 is the UK not CENT_EUROPE.

Thanks to all that helped me with this. I successfully upgraded to the latest Firmware this evening. The new version of PhoneXS done it in just 20 minutes.

Just one final question, KD Player. Is it possible to replace the standard MP3 player with this one (or one similar) or do I just have to launch the application seperately.

KD player, is a java programme so a serate player, it can be skinned and looks nice it's fine for playing music out the backpspeaker but sound quality isn't very good in the headphones the standard music player is better, the oringal player music can be skinned with a gfx patch, and you can boost the sound quality by changing the acoustics.
