Using XS++ to create an M950?
As a few of you may recall, last year news of combining the firmwares of the M600i and W950i appeared. More specifically, the combination of certain parts of the firmware of the M600i and W950i and then flashed into the M600i using SEtool2 would create a business phone with qwerty-keyboard and excellent media player.
See http://www.esato.com/archive/t.php/t-146927,1.html for instructions
and

YouTube - Convert M600i - W950i version 2

for videos of the "M950" phone.
Now to the questions:
1. Is the above flashing possible to achieve using XS++? Has anyone tried it?
2. As you all know by now, SE stopped developing the firmware for the M600i, W950i and P990i when they were about to launch the P1i. However, for some reason the W950i received a firmware update beyond M600i. Also, the W950i is listed as being compatible with Fring while the M600i is not.
Would a firmware combination of the latest firmwares for M600i and W950i, flashed into a M600i give the M600i the benefits of Fring-compatiblity and updated Opera browser?
Re: Using XS++ to create an M950?
I think you can't use XS++ to do that.
Re: Using XS++ to create an M950?
I think is posiblle, because both models are CID49 and identical hardware. But first you must create a M950_firmware like the instruction in the link! XS++ can flash PDA, just mark "Flash all files" and then Flash!!!

That is good news. I actually have two M600i phones so I am willing to take the risk and try to flash a custom M950 firmware onto one of them. Unfortunately, I have yet to gain access to the firmware archive so I guess this particular project of mine will have to wait for approx 2 months.
Re: Using XS++ to create an M950?
now i need to change my W950 UI

But are you sure that W950 is supported by fring, as far as I know both m600 and W950 are not supported due to limitations. The limitations being that for some reason the device can not record and play sound (full duplex) at the same time

The w950 received one or two firmware updates more than the m600. According to SE-World
Firmware Changelogs für Sony Ericsson W950i - SE-World
The w950 (but not the m600) achieved fring-compatibility with the second latest firmware. If that information is correct, either the w950 has better duplex capabilities than the m600 or Sony Ericssons decided not to bring the same functionality to the m600 as to the w950. Remember that the w950 also received a newer version of Opera than the m600.
So the point is to try to make a m950 firmware using the latest or second latest firmware for the w950.
