    Firmware backup on w580

    Hey guys, new here.
So I have 2 w580s, one unbranded and the other is. Is it possible to revert back the branding by imaging the firmware from one phone and sticking it back onto the other? (For servicing reasons) I'm new to the whole SE thing, been a Moto man in the past.

    Thanks

    Hi

Sorry but I didn't get exactly what you wanted , do u mean that you want to read FM from one and flash it to another ???

You can simply flash the Branding software ,,, you cant simply read from one and flash it to another

It probably would be easier to simply download the branded firmware. (Assuming that it's available in the downloads section)

What is so great about your provider's branded firmware that isn't also available in the generic firmware? I usually find the provider's 'customizations' to be annoying - it's one of the first things to go when I get a new phone.

    :(

You want to flash to a generic firmware yes? Debranding? You don't need a backup copy of your current firmware to do this. (although it's always good to have a backup copy *anytime* you change upgrade something. Worse case scenario you can choose a generic version of the prior firmware if need be.

    generic firmware should work

I don't think you can create a 'pure' back up of the original firmware on your phone. Plus why would you want that? The Generic firmware should enable of the functions available on your phone.

I think he wants a raw dump of his current firmware. To be honest I don't even know if that can be used as-is. I'll ask around to see if anyone knows how to do this. I'd still recommend flashing with the generic firmware. You can keep a copy of the generic firmware as a backup just in case if you want.
