Post Making Sony ericsson pc suite compatible with vista

Having problem with SE pc suite on vista???

    cant install it??
Dont worry! you have come to the right place. Heres a great tip which worked fine for me with my W810i

    Follow These instructions Carefully:

-Goto control panel -> user accounts -> Turn user account control on /off -> Untick UAC box -> ok -> restart.
    - Run the installation program
    - When you get the error, do NOT click OK, but leave this open.
    - go to localsettings/temp
    - find a new folder with the most recent date and time (from when you extracted it)
    - copy the MSI files to your desktop
    - Use Orca.msi (http://www.brentnorris.net/orca.msi) to edit the Sony Ericssion PC Suite.msi file
    - Edit a line called Launchcondition - remove the first line
    - Edit a line called file remove the first 2 lines called msxml4.dll & msxml4r.dll (old verisons you have to remove them or the installation will halt as the system won't be able to overwrite the newer files in Vista)
    - Save

    - Run the Pc Suite.msi file, now choose custom install and choose the following stuff to install later:-
    Image editor
    MMS home studio
    mobile newtworking wizard.......

I don't think, that this is such a good how-to. the first tipp is, to disable the UAC. why? anybody tested it with UAC activated? at the end nobody says "now activate the UAC again". it's no problem for a power user but a normal user doesn't know what he is doing with this step. and hurray after 5 minutes in the internet we have a new spam-bot...
sorry, but howtos like this one are one reason why there are so many unprotected windows pcs

The UAC is just disabled in order to make sure that there is no iterference during installation...
If you want to have it back again ...simply switch it on after installtion..thats it...
BTW these kind of how to's are not done by noobs...! If you are so unsecure why dont you wait till the real SE pc suite's release which will be in september!

Sorry, but most of the users who use these howtos are what you call "noobs". we both know how to enable UAC but the "noob" doesn't even think about it. It only reads "disable" but there is no remark to an "enable" - so it never happens. Don't believe it? Go in the next students' hostel and check their pcs ;)
